Legend In Your Own Time - While standing in line to renew
her passport, Carly spotted an article about country music star Hank Williams
which proclaimed that he was "a legend in his own time." She penned this
song as a result.
You're So Vain - Carly recently revealed the identity
of the person that this song was written about, but only to one person
(Dick Ebersol) after he won a charity auction with the answer as the prize.
Mr. Ebersol agreed to keep the person's identity to this mystery a secret.
The Right Thing To Do - While James Taylor napped next
to her on a plane, Carly recalled a line from the film The Last Picture
Show ("loving you is always the right thing to do"), and thus advertised
the idea further by writing this tune.
Mockingbird (with James Taylor) - Written by Inez and
Charlie Foxx, parents-to-be Carly Simon and James Taylor recorded this
song while Carly was pregnant with her first child, daughter Sally. James
Taylor wrote additional lyrics and an all-star cast including Dr. John,
Robbie Robertson and Jim Keltner brought the song to life in the recording
studio.
Haven't Got Time For The Pain - Longtime friend and collaborator
Jake Brackman wrote the lyrics to this song about his own spiritual awakening.
Nobody Does It Better - Written by Marvin Hamlisch and
Carole Bayer Sager, Carly lent her amazing vocals to this song for the

of "la-la's" he sang as the melody, and she quickly wrote the lyrics to
this song. The Doobie Brothers recorded it, but it was Carly's version
that climbed the charts and made it a major hit.

film Heartburn , this song marked Carly's entrance into writing

Ephron movie This Is My Life, Carly was inspired by her devotion

mother Andrea, Carly wrote this heartbreaking, yet uplifting song about
losing a parent.
Touched By The Sun - Written for a close friend and mentor
who was suffering from terminal cancer, this song presented itself to
Carly one day "as if it had been laid out before me in my lap."
Amity (With Sally Taylor) - Carly and her daughter Sally
